Job summary

Carter Machinery Co. Inc. in Richmond/Manassas, VA, seeks a Supplier Quality Lead to manage supplier quality, lead audits, and drive corrective actions, collaborating with teams to sustain continuous improvement.

The role requires five years in quality engineering, supervisory experience preferred, a Bachelor's in engineering, and willingness to travel up to 50%. A Six Sigma/ASQ certification is a plus; strong communication and leadership are essential.

Qualifications

• Minimum five years of experience in quality engineering or related role.
• Supervisory experience preferred.
• Certification in quality methodologies (e.g., Six Sigma, ASQ) is a plus
• In-depth knowledge of quality assurance and control procedures, concepts, and methodologies
• Valid driver's license
• Excellent driving record
• Willingness to travel up to 50%
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
• Excellent interpersonal and customer service skills
• Excellent attention to detail
• Strong supervisory and leadership skills

Responsibilities

• Manage quality performance of assigned suppliers
• Review and approve issuance of supplier corrective action requests
• Review and approve closure of supplier corrective action requests
• Lead customer quality meetings regarding supplier failures
• Lead supplier qualification audits and drive closure of findings
• Establish processes with new suppliers including customer required documentation and ship loose standards
• Manage and support customer audits and closure of findings
• Manage proactive supplier development
• Manage supplier recovery plans for high-risk suppliers
• Work in coordination with team to achieve Continuous Improvement goals and objectives
• Perform other related duties as assigned
