Job summary

Slate Auto is seeking an energetic Supplier Quality Engineer (SQE), Accessories – Slate Maker, to join our growing team. You will be embedded within the Accessories program to drive supplier quality across the Slate Maker accessories portfolio and ensure PPAP approvals and conforming parts that support personalization and customer delight.

Qualifications

• Engineering degree or equivalent required.
• 5+ years of supplier quality experience in vehicle or product launches.
• Experience with APQP, PPAP approvals, and supplier readiness assessments.
• Excellent communication and relationship-building skills.
• Experience with accessories components including soft goods, hard goods, electronics, lighting, racks, covers, lifestyle accessories.
• Ability to identify process issues and drive improvements for quality and efficiency.
• Strong knowledge of PPAP status tracking and readiness metrics.
• Ability to read GD&T and engineering drawings; experience with dimensional reporting, MSA, and CpK/PpK requirements.

Responsibilities

• Manage the full APQP process for the Accessories supplier portfolio.
• Drive PPAP submissions and approvals across suppliers.
• Monitor supplier readiness against program milestones.
• Lead containment and corrective action for quality issues.
• Coordinate incoming inspection requirements and tooling/capacity confirmations.
• Conduct supplier audits (VDA 6.3 or equivalent).
• Collaborate with Accessories Product, Engineering, Manufacturing, and Program Management to ensure quality standards and customer satisfaction.
