Job summary

Robert Bosch Group in Albion, IN seeks a Senior Supplier Quality Engineer to own the quality of all purchased parts, lead root-cause analyses, and drive PPAP and 8D processes with suppliers and internal teams. You will maintain SAP-based quality systems and report progress through dashboards.

Travel in North America (~3 times per year) may be required as you support audits, containment actions, and cross-functional supplier development initiatives to uphold Bosch world-class standards.

Qualifications

• Minimum five years of experience in manufacturing or quality engineering within the automotive industry.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to work independently and collaborate effectively with diverse groups.
• Ability to travel to other Bosch locations, training locations or suppliers in North America. Limited travel (approximately 3 times per year).
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications.

Responsibilities

• Lead comprehensive claims management using the 8D methodology and drive root cause analysis with management oversight.
• Manage the Production Part Approval Process (PPAP) per Bosch standards, including part measurements and EPC activities.
• Establish and maintain the quality framework for supplied parts in SAP, including Quality Info Records and Inspection Plans.
• Lead the reimbursement process for supplier defect costs, coordinating with manufacturing, logistics and purchasing teams.
• Act as a key quality leader in multifunctional teams during escalations and supplier development activities.
• Proactively communicate supplier quality status using PDCAs, A3s, and cockpit charts at all levels.
• Support internal, customer and CSR audits and implement containment actions when required.

Position Summary:

As a Senior Supplier Quality Engineer at the Bosch Albion plant, you will be a cornerstone of our commitment to excellence. You will have direct responsibility for the quality of all purchased parts, collaborating closely with a global supply base and internal plant management. This critical role involves driving root cause analysis, ensuring component compliance through rigorous processes, and leading continuous improvement initiatives to uphold the world‑class standards of the Bosch brand.

Key Responsibilities:

• Problem Solving & Claims Management:Lead comprehensive claims management using the 8D methodology. Drive deep managerial root cause analysis aligned with our 14 Quality Principles to prevent issue recurrence.
• Part Approval & Release:Manage the Production Part Approval Process (PPAP) according to Bosch standards. This includes conducting physical part measurements, homologating measurement methods with suppliers, and overseeing part release and Early Production Containment (EPC) activities.
• Quality Systems Management:Establish and maintain the quality framework for supplied parts in SAP, including creating Quality Info Records and Inspection Plans.
• Supplier Cost Recovery:Lead the reimbursement process for supplier defect costs, coordinating directly with manufacturing, logistics, and commercial purchasing teams.
• Cross-Functional Collaboration:Act as a key quality leader in multifunctional teams during escalations, problem‑solving, and supplier development activities.
• Communication & Reporting:Proactively communicate all aspects of supplier quality using standard tools such as PDCAs, A3s, and cockpit charts to effectively report progress and initiatives at all levels.
• Compliance & Audits:Support internal, customer, and Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) audits and implement necessary containment actions when required.

Required Qualifications:

• A minimum of five (5) years of experience in manufacturing or quality engineering within the automotive industry.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to work independently and collaborate effectively with diverse groups.
• Ability to travel to other Bosch locations, training locations or suppliers in North America. Limited travel (approximately 3 times per year).
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Three (3) or more years of experience withplastic injection molding.
• Three (3) or more years of experience in the manufacturing of automotive components.
• Experience in database management, software programming, or AI.
• Strong organizational and project management skills.
• Demonstrated expertise with core quality methodologies, including8D, 5 Whys, PFMEA, Control Plan, and PPAP.
• Intermediate experience in a structured problem‑solving methodology (e.g., Shainin Red X, Kepner-Tregoe, Six Sigma).
