As a member of Supplier Quality Engineering at the Cardiac Surgery Brooklyn Park facility, you will be responsible for management of external suppliers who are integral with the life-saving cardiovascular devices produced at our site. You will lead oversight of supplied products managing supplier relationships, changes, and improvements while ensuring conformance to purchased material requirements and managing nonconforming product in compliance to Medtronic Purchasing and Supplier Controls, regulatory bodies, international requirements, and Quality System Regulations.

Our Cardiovascular Surgery Unit offers devices and therapies that treat patients with compromised oxygen levels during critical, life-saving surgery. As a member of our team, together we will transform the lives of the patients we serve by assuring that they have blood oxygen levels before, during, and after surgery that sustain their life and prevent physiological damage.

Your responsibilities in this role may include the following and other duties may be assigned.

  • Ensure that suppliers deliver quality parts, materials, and services.

  • Qualify suppliers and components/devices according to company standards and may administer a Certified Supplier Program in receiving inspection to ensure cost effectiveness (Quality Agreements, ASL, Risk, IQ/OQ/PQ, Control Plan, etc.).

  • Monitor parts from acquisition through the manufacturing cycle and communicate and resolve supplier-related problems as they occur.

  • Develop and prioritize an auditing schedule to ensure that designated suppliers are audited on a regular basis to ensure good manufacturing practices (GMP) and quality standards are met.

  • Evaluate suppliers' internal functions to assess their overall performance and provides feedback in assessment of their operation.

  • Some individuals may have responsibilities that include Pre-Market Supplier Quality and duties may include: Provides Pre-Market Quality Engineering support to New Product Development (NPD) working in partnership with the Component Engineering and Post-Market Supplier Quality Teams, to deliver quality parts, materials, and services, prevent defects, and allow Medtronic to provide customers with the highest quality and reliable products.

  • Provide technical guidance and quality compliance for Supplier Quality engagement throughout the NPD lifecycle on newly qualified parts from NPD and implementing strategies for driving product quality and continuous improvement, ensuring purchased products and components are manufactured and qualified in accordance to applicable industry standards, regulatory requirements, and customer requirements.

  • Collaborate with Component Engineers to develop and deliver the Product Acceptance Sampling Strategy, Approved Supplier List coordination, Supplier Owned Quality deployment, and Control Plans/Inspection Plan for new products.

  • Define Receiving Inspection requirements as required and associated test method validation for all internal Medtronic Test Methods.

Must Have: Minimum Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering, Science or technical field with 4+ years of work experience in Engineering and/or Quality OR Advanced degree in Engineering, Science or technical field with 2+ years of work experience in Engineering and/or Quality

Nice to Have

  • Working knowledge of ISO 13485, ISO 14971, 21CFR820

  • Experience in applying DMAIC / Lean Six Sigma principles: (Green Belt or Black Belt certification – nice to have)

  • Good statistical data analysis skills, including SPC

  • Root cause analysis methodology

  • Risk Management or CAPA experience

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills

  • Ability to interface with internal customers, suppliers and external regulatory agencies (strongly desired)

  • High attention to detail and accuracy

  • Medical device experience strongly preferred

  • Injection Molding (nice to have)

  • Lead Auditor (strongly preferred)

Salary ranges for U.S (excl. PR) locations (USD):$96,800.00 - $145,200.00This position is eligible for a short-term incentive called the Medtronic Incentive Plan (MIP).The base salary range is applicable across the United States, excluding Puerto Rico and specific locations in California. The offered rate complies with federal and local regulations and may vary based on factors such as experience, certification/education, market conditions, and location. Compensation and benefits information pertains solely to candidates hired within the United States (local market compensation and benefits will apply for others).

The following benefits and additional compensation are available to those regular employees who work 20+ hours per week: Health, Dental and vision insurance , Health Savings Account , Healthcare Flexible Spending Account , Life insurance, Long-term disability leave , Dependent daycare spending account , Tuition assistance/reimbursement , and Simple Steps (global well-being program).
