Job summary

Westinghouse Electric Company is seeking a Senior Supplier Manufacturing Engineer to support fabrication of electro-mechanical components at supplier facilities. This 100% remote role reports to the Senior Manager, WPB/OMS SPE and involves overseeing supplier performance, quality, and compliance with Westinghouse requirements.

The ideal candidate has a Bachelor's in Engineering, 4+ years of engineering/manufacturing experience, and familiarity with ASME standards, PFMEA, Cpk, and supplier

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree in Engineering or higher.
• 4+ years progressive experience in engineering/manufacturing.
• Experience in Electrical Equipment or Nuclear industries preferred.
• Knowledge of machining, welding, forming, and assembly.
• Experience with Cpk and qualification.
• Experience with PFMEA and Manufacturing/Quality Plans.
• Ability to read drawings/specifications per ASME.
• Experience writing technical documents or SOPs.
• Knowledge of codes and standards for nuclear products is desirable.

About the role:

As a Senior Supplier Manufacturing Engineer, you will support fabrication of electro-mechanical components at supplier facilities. You will report to the Senior Manager, WPB/OMS SPE and work remote. 100% Remote role.

Key Responsibilities:

Ensure Westinghouse technical and quality requirements are achieved through supplier oversight that you perform.

Develop and implement Supplier Oversight Plans to lead completion of critical document submittals, manufacturing activities, surveillance (witness and hold) points, inspections, and tests and ensure vendor compliance with critical requirements

Coordinate activities of Westinghouse functions responsible for driving supplier performance including Supply Chain (buyers and category managers), Design Engineering, and Supplier Quality Oversight

Identify and escape supplier issues, risk, and quality events.

Improve prompt resolution of issues by coordinating activities, issuing communications, and identifying partners to ensure prompt identification of impacted products, disposition of issues, and implementation of corrective action

Monitor important supplier performance metrics, such as On-Time Delivery, Quality issues, and Deviation Notices, for assigned suppliers. This monitoring aims to identify negative performance trends and implement causal analysis, corrective actions, and Supplier Improvement Plans to avoid issues.

Evaluate procurement (supplier) risk, soliciting partner input, and using resources to develop security of supply risk mitigation plans

Oversee internal and external (supplier) corrective action requests, performing cause analyses and verifying completion of preventative and corrective actions

Perform technical evaluations of our suppliers to assess their manufacturing capability, capacity, process controls, compliance with applicable regulations, codes, and standards. These evaluations also identify associated risks. Identify gaps between supplier evaluations and Westinghouse technical and quality requirements. Establish and implement plans to reduce those gaps.

Lead supplier development and qualification activities for new products, supplier improvement projects, and cost reduction efforts. This includes performing supplier development activities to establish or improve suppliers' manufacturing processes and quality management systems to meet Westinghouse requirements. Review and disposition supplier process documents, process capability analyses, measurement system analyses, input to design for manufacturability

Work with Design Engineering to ensure the integrity and clarity of engineering drawing requirements and that all expectations are communicated to support suppliers.

Support implementation of Value Analysis / Value Engineering, Design for Assembly, and Design for Manufacturing principles during the design process.

Qualifications:

Bachelor's Degree or higher in Engineering

4+ years of progressive experience in engineering/manufacturing.

We prefer experience in the Electrical Equipment, Nuclear or adjacent industries.

Knowledge in manufacturing processes, e.g. machining (turning, milling), welding, forming, mechanical assembly, NDE and inspection, and testing

Experience performing process capability analysis (Cpk) and qualification

Working knowledge of Manufacturing and Quality Plans, PFMEAs.

Experience authoring technical documents or operating procedures

Experience reading drawings and specifications made to ASME standards

Experience with nuclear products and standards desired

We are committed to transparency and equity in all of our people practices. The base salary range for this position, which is dependent upon experience, qualifications and skills, is estimated to be $85,200 to $106,500 per year.
