Job summary

Caterpillar is seeking a Senior Supplier Technical Engineer in Balboa, CA to own technical aspects of purchased parts from NPI through the life cycle. You will lead root-cause analysis, PPAP, DFMEA, and collaborate with sourcing and engineering to drive supplier performance and quality improvements.

Ideal candidates have a technical degree with 5–7+ years of experience or 10+ years manufacturing experience; Six Sigma, DOE, Lean, and project management skills are highly valued.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in a technical subject with 5–7+ years of experience or 10+ years manufacturing experience in lieu of a degree.
• Hands-on manufacturing experience preferred.
• Strong analytical problem-solving skills with root cause analysis and corrective actions.
• Familiarity with Six Sigma tools and DOE methods is desirable.
• Knowledge of lean manufacturing principles and quality management systems.

Responsibilities

• Have technical accountability for assigned purchased parts from NPI through product life cycle, including quality management.
• Coordinate with engineering on CPPD, NPI, and CPI matters.
• Lead PPAP and develop the FAPITP with input from Design Engineering.
• Communicate technical requirements with suppliers, including design review and MRB dispositions.
• Work with Sourcing Specialists and Buyers to improve supplier performance using root-cause analysis.
