Job summary

SpaceX in Bastrop, TX is seeking a Sr. Supplier Development Engineer, Mechanical Metrology (Starlink) to lead end-to-end supplier development for high-precision mechanical components used in Starlink terminals.

You will guide supplier selection, NPI, qualification, and ramp, while delivering on-time qualification and production milestones. The role requires 6+ years in mechanical metrology or supplier development, strong GD&T and MSA/GR&R expertise, and hands-on CMM/PC-DMIS experience.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in mechanical/metrology/engineering required; 6+ years in mechanical metrology or supplier development.
• Strong GD&T, MSA/GR&R, and high-volume production experience.

Responsibilities

• Own end-to-end supplier development for mechanical metrology and high-precision components in Starlink BOM.
• Lead supplier selection, NPI, qualification, and ramp; ensure on-time delivery and field feedback to design teams.
• Provide guidance on GD&T, datum schemes, PC-DMIS, surface texture, and measurement system analysis.
• Design and qualify precision measurement fixtures; assess supplier capability and GR&R performance.
• Drive AI/ML for metrology, PPAP, FAI, and production ramp activities; support QA and continuous improvement.
• Mentor internal metrology lab activities and ensure clear data-driven inferences for decisions.
