Job summary

Electric Era is seeking an experienced Supplier Development Engineer to enable the development and production flow of our EV charging infrastructure. You will partner with Engineering, Production, and suppliers to drive data-driven supply chain strategies that meet manufacturing goals and improve quality and cost.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering or a STEM field.
  • 5+ years of experience in supply chain engineering, supplier development/quality, manufacturing, or design engineering.
  • Ability to conduct regular factory floor walkthroughs, including standing/walking for extended periods.

Responsibilities

  • Develop suppliers for products by improving quality, cost, delivery and capacity.
  • Collaborate with engineers to understand parts, assembly, metrology and design intent.
  • Resolve supplier quality issues via root cause analysis, liaising with sourcing, engineering and production.
  • Assess supplier processes and quality systems to match parts to capabilities.
  • Define supplier technical and quality requirements across NPI and production.
  • Define product technical requirements and ensure supplier compliance.
  • Guide Production Part Approval Process (PPAP) with suppliers for rate production.
  • Analyze supplier quality and delivery metrics to identify trends and gaps.
  • Research potential new suppliers and capabilities in manufacturing and metrology.
  • Identify product/process improvements to lower cost and improve cycle time.
  • Manage supply relationships and communicate with suppliers regularly.
  • Coordinate cross-functional projects to support continuous improvement.

Role

Electric Era is hiring an experienced Supplier Development Engineer to enable the development and production flow of our EV charging infrastructure. In this role, you will work closely with Engineering, Production, and our supply base to execute effective, creative, and data-driven supply chain strategies that meet manufacturing goals. Your ability to solve problems in partnership with suppliers will directly help accelerate the EV revolution and electrify the transportation network.

Responsibilities
  • Develop suppliers for Electric Era's products by improving quality, cost, delivery, and capacity
  • Collaborate with engineers to build in-depth knowledge of parts, assembly, metrology, and sub-system design intent
  • Support resolution of supplier quality issues through root cause analysis, serving as the liaison between sourcing, engineering, production, and suppliers
  • Support the sourcing team in strategically matching parts to supplier competencies by assessing supplier manufacturing processes and quality systems
  • Create and define supplier technical and quality requirements based on customer and program expectations across NPI and production phases
  • Define product technical requirements and ensure supplier compliance
  • Implement and monitor the Production Part Approval Process (PPAP) with selected suppliers to enable rate production
  • Analyze supplier quality and delivery metrics to identify trends, pinpoint systemic performance gaps, and guide supplier improvement plans
  • Conduct proactive research to identify potential new suppliers and capabilities in manufacturing and metrology
  • Identify and advance product and process improvements to lower part cost, reduce supply risk, eliminate defects, and improve cycle time
  • Manage mission-critical supply relationships by establishing strong working relationships and regular communication with suppliers
  • Collaborate cross-functionally, coordinate projects, and continuously support improvement across the supply base
Basic Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering or a STEM field
  • 5+ years of experience in supply chain engineering, supplier development/quality, manufacturing, or design engineering
  • Ability to conduct regular factory floor walkthroughs, including standing and walking for extended periods
Preferred Skills and Experience
  • Proven record of owning projects end-to-end, negotiating cost reductions, and partnering with engineering to achieve shared outcomes
  • Knowledge of statistical techniques and methods (e.g., APQP, Design of Experiments, Six Sigma)
  • Proficiency in Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T) principles and applications
  • Familiarity with metrology tools and techniques for measuring and characterizing mechanical parts
  • Understanding of lean manufacturing and supply chain concepts
  • Exceptional analytical, problem-solving, time management, and organizational skills
  • Ability to respond effectively in a fast-moving, high-stakes environment
Additional Requirements
  • Based onsite in Seattle, WA; remote work is not available for this role
  • Willingness to work extended hours, including weekends, as required by business needs
  • Ability to travel 25–60%
  • Must possess and maintain a valid driver's license and meet the Company's motor vehicle eligibility requirements
Compensation and Benefits
  • Salary Range

Supplier Development Engineer (Level I): $100,000 - $115,000 / year

Supplier Development Engineer (Level II): $110,000 - $135,000 / year

Sr. Supplier Development Engineer: $135,000 - $190,000 / year

  • Additional Compensation: This position may also be eligible for incentive compensation, commission, equity awards, or other compensation programs, subject to applicable plan terms.
