Job summary

Army National Guard Units in Illinois is seeking a Supervisory Financial Specialist (TITLE 5) to lead a payroll and pay operations team. You will serve as Branch Chief, supervising staff and ensuring accurate processing of Military Pay, Civilian Pay, Accounts Payable and Travel Pay in compliance with DoD/DFAS regulations.

The role requires strategic personnel management, development of SOPs, and adherence to EEO standards while guiding staff through evolving policies and procedures.

Qualifications

• Must have undergraduate or graduate education in accounting, finance, economics, math, statistics, industrial management, marketing, quantitative methods, or organizational management.
• Official transcripts must be provided to support educational claims.
• Experience supervising staff and managing pay operations is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Oversee broad pay operations functions (Military Pay, Civilian Pay, Accounts Payable and Travel Pay).
• Selects or recommends hiring, promotions, and reassignments based on skills and mission needs; develops performance standards.
• Applies EEO principles and ensures non-discriminatory personnel actions; develops SOPs for all areas of responsibility.
• Resolves payroll issues, ensures accurate payroll processing, and maintains interfaces with DoD and DFAS systems.
