Job summary

The Consolidated Legal Center (CLC) at FMC Devens provides legal services and support for FMC Devens, FCI Danbury, FCI Berlin and FCI Ray Brook. Our mission is to provide high quality legal advice and litigation defense services to staff for employment-related legal matters.

The selected will supervise the attorneys within the Devens CLC and will supervise legal support staff; assign matters, establish protocols, and ensure compliance with BOP and DOJ rules.

Qualifications

Must possess a J.D. degree, be an active member of the bar in any jurisdiction, and have at least 2.5 to 4 years of post‑J.D. experience.
Prior experience in correctional law is preferred but not required.

Responsibilities

Direct supervisor of the attorneys within the Devens CLC and supervise legal support staff as applicable.
Assign matters/cases and establish protocols and priorities for the CLC.
Ensure compliance with BOP and Department of Justice protocols and procedures.
Provide training to subordinate staff and guidance as needed.
Communicate with defense attorneys, prosecutors, federal courts, and agency officials.
Perform extensive legal research and writing independently; adapt to BOP protocols.
May be required to operate in a correctional environment during training or emergencies.
