Job summary

The Federal Bureau of Prisons Consolidated Legal Center (CLC) in Beaumont, TX seeks a Supervisory Attorney to lead the Beaumont CLC team and oversee attorney and staff operations.

The incumbent will assign matters, establish protocols, supervise compliance with BOP/DOJ procedures, provide training, advise staff, and represent the agency in District Court as needed while supporting the U.S. Attorney’s Office in BOP litigation.

Qualifications

• Applicants must have a J.D. degree, be an active member of the bar (any U.S. jurisdiction), and have at least 2.5 to 4 years post-JD legal or other relevant experience.
• Preferred qualification: Prior experience in correctional law is preferred, but not required.

Responsibilities

• Supervise attorneys and legal support staff within the Beaumont CLC and assign matters/cases.
• Establish protocols and priorities for the CLC and ensure compliance with BOP and DOJ protocols.
• Provide training for subordinate staff and guidance as needed.
• Communicate with defense attorneys, prosecutors, federal courts, and agency officials.
• Appear in District Court on short notice to explain and advocate the agency's correctional management decisions.
• Provide litigation support to the U.S. Attorney's Office, including drafting briefs, discovery responses, and litigation reports.
