Summary

This position is responsible for ensuring that all water leaving a Tyson water treatment facility meets local, state, and federal requirements and for informing the city of any required changes in water quality or engineering processes. The role requires maintaining treatment systems, performing operational maintenance, keeping administrative records, budgeting to operate and maintain the treatment facility effectively, and ensuring a safe working environment with proper safety equipment and tools. Additional responsibilities include analyzing operational data to determine improvements needed, ensuring wastewater samples are correctly collected and sent to a laboratory to determine permit compliance, generating reports for the corporate office and government agencies as required, and aiding wastewater operators in maintaining their operator licenses.

Responsibilities

• Maintain treatment systems and perform operational maintenance.
• Keep administrative records and budget for facility operation and maintenance.
• Provide a safe working environment with proper safety equipment and tools.
• Analyze operational data to determine changes and improvements needed to meet objectives.
• Ensure wastewater samples are correctly collected and sent to the lab for permit compliance testing.
• Generate reports for the corporate office and government agencies as required.
• Aide wastewater operators in maintaining their operator licenses.
• Oversee and maintain the operation of pre‑treatment or full‑treatment equipment.
• Perform additional responsibilities as needed.

Qualifications

• Education beyond high school, including vocational school or college coursework preferred.
• 2+ years of environmental compliance experience preferred; wastewater certification license preferred.
• Basic computer skills, e.g., checking electronic mail, entering data into templates, creating simple queries.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Experience supervising a group of personnel performing related tasks.

1 to 5 trips per year.
