Job summary

Freeport-McMoRan's Safford operation seeks a Senior Supervisor Accounting to lead the accounting work unit, ensuring production plans align with financial controls and company policies. The role requires oversight of daily finance activities and collaboration with cross-functional teams.

You will supervise first-line supervisors, coordinate with maintenance, engineering, safety, environmental, and sales teams, and ensure compliance with relevant laws and internal controls.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or GED with nine years of accounting experience, including supervisory or lead experience.
• Associate's degree in Accounting/Finance with seven years of accounting experience, including supervisory or lead responsibilities.
• Bachelor's degree in Accounting/Finance with five years of related accounting experience, including supervisory or lead experience.
• Master's degree in Accounting/Finance with three years of related accounting experience, including supervisory or lead experience.
• Knowledge of supervisory methods and techniques.
• Skilled in resolving day-to-day questions/problems regarding equipment, materials, methods and procedures needed to complete projects.
• Skilled in budget preparation, monitoring and administration.
• Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing.

• Provides operations input for production and maintenance planning
• Ensures adherence to correct safety and operating procedures and compliance with applicable federal and state laws and regulations
• Inspects assigned work units to ensure schedules and objectives are attained
• Coordinates daily with other operational and staff areas including, but not limited to: maintenance, processing, engineering, safety, environmental, and sales
• Directly supervises first-line or shift supervisors
• Performs other duties as required

Description

Under general supervision, supervises, coordinates and controls the safe and efficient operation of an assigned work unit through subordinate supervisors.

• Ensures continued operations of production shifts through execution of the production plan and schedules

Minimum Qualifications

• High School diploma or GED and nine (9) years professional experience in accounting, including two (2) years in prolong intellectual instruction (certifications, instructed training, OR on the job training, etc..) in Accounting or Finance; OR
• Associate's degree in Accounting, Finance, or closely related area and seven (7) years professional experience in accounting; OR
• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance or closely related area, AND five (5) years of related Accounting experience, including supervisory or lead experience; OR
• Master's degree in Accounting, Finance or closely related area, AND three (3) years of related Accounting experience, including supervisory or lead experience
• Knowledge of supervisory methods and techniques
• Skilled in resolving day-to-day questions/problems regarding equipment, materials, methods and procedures needed to complete projects
• Skilled in budget preparation, monitoring and administration
• Ability to develop and maintain awareness of occupational hazards and safety precautions
• Skilled in following safety practices and recognizing hazards
• Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing

Criteria/Conditions

• Ability to understand and apply verbal and written work and safety-related instructions and procedures given in English

• Must be able to work in a potentially stressful environment
• Work is in a mine or manufacturing plant setting, which may include exposure to extremes in temperature and humidity, moving mechanical parts, risk of electrical shock, toxic chemicals, explosives, fumes or airborne particles
• While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand, sit, demonstrate manual dexterity, climb stairs and ladders, work on elevated platforms, talk, hear and see
• Occasionally may be required to lift moderately heavy objects (up to 30 pounds) during the course of the workday
• Personal protective equipment is required when performing work in a mine, outdoor, or manufacturing plant environment, including hard hat, hearing protection, safety glasses, safety footwear, and as needed, respirator, rubber steel-toe boots, protective clothing, gloves and any other protective equipment as required

What We Offer You

The estimated annual pay range for this role is currently $93,000-$127,500. This range reflects base salary only and does not include bonus payments, benefits or retirement contributions. Actual base pay is determined by experience, qualifications, skills and other job-related factors. This role is eligible for additional discretionary and incentive payment considerations based on company and individual performance. More details will be shared during the hiring process.
