Freeport-McMoRan is hiring a Senior Accountant in Bagdad, AZ. The role leads complex financial statement work, oversees ledger postings, and reconciliations while ensuring GAAP compliance.

The role supports audit prep, develops project revenue reports, and may mentor junior staff at site. A strong accounting background with related training is essential.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or GED with 8+ years of accounting experience; includes two years in related training or on-the-job instruction.
• Associate degree in Accounting/Finance with 6+ years of accounting experience.
• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting/Finance with 4+ years of accounting experience.
• Master’s degree in Accounting/Finance/Business Admin with 2+ years of accounting experience.

Responsibilities

• Assemble complex financial statements and oversee recording of expenditures and postings to ledgers; verify reconciliation of books and bank statements.
• Analyze financial operations and suggest policy or procedural improvements.
• Review and propose enhancements to automated financial statements.
• Support audit preparation with schedules and reconciliation reports; monitor monthly project revenues and expenditures.
• Provide guidance or training to less experienced site accountants as needed.
• Perform other duties as required.

What You Will Do

• Perform or serves as team leader in assembling complex and interrelated financial statements; oversees and reviews the recording of expenditures, entries and posting to general ledgers; verifies books and bank statement reconciliation.
• Analyze financial operations and recommends enhancements to policies or procedures.
• Review and recommend new or enhanced automated financial statements.
• Oversee and assists in audit preparation by developing required schedules and reconciliation reports; monitor and develop monthly reports of revenues and expenditures for projects.
• May provide functional advice or training to less experience accountant positions at site.
• Perform other duties as required.

What You Bring To Freeport

• High School diploma or GED and eight (8) years professional experience in accounting, including two (2) years in prolong intellectual instruction (certifications, instructed training, OR on the job training, etc..) in Accounting or Finance; OR
• Associate's degree in Accounting, Finance, or closely related area and six (6) years professional experience in accounting; OR
• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or closely related area and four (4) years experience in accounting, OR
• Master’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or closely related area and two (2) years experience in accounting.
• Possesses and applies a broad knowledge of the principles, practices and procedures in the accounting field of specialization.
• Knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP)
• Ability to develop and maintain awareness of occupational hazards and safety precautions.
• Skilled in following safety practices and recognizing hazards.
• Knowledge of office procedures and equipment, including PCs and financial software
• Ability to communicate effectively, orally and in writing.

Preferred Qualifications

• Proficiency in SAP, Power BI, Microsoft Excel, and Business Objects
• Strong analytical, technical, and problem-solving skills
• Effective communication and stakeholder engagement across management levels
• Attention to detail and ability to manage multiple priorities
• Understanding of manufacturing or mining industry financial operations
• Understanding of OKRs and KPI tracking
• Understanding of financial regulations and SOX controls
• Strong leadership skills with the ability to assess situations, make informed decisions, and exercise sound judgment

What We Offer You

The estimated annual pay range for this role is currently $75,000-$104,000. This range reflects base salary only and does not include bonus payments, benefits or retirement contributions. Actual base pay is determined by experience, qualifications, skills and other job-related factors. This role is eligible for additional discretionary and incentive payment considerations based on company and individual performance. More details will be shared during the hiring process.
