Job summary

Maryland Legal Aid seeks a Supervising Attorney for the Tenant Right to Counsel Project in the Towson area. You will plan the unit’s work, supervise staff, and carry a caseload to provide high-quality legal services in landlord-tenant and housing matters.

You will lead staff attorneys, paralegals, and clerks, coordinate with the Chief Attorney, and help implement Access to Counsel initiatives in Baltimore County.

Qualifications

• Admitted to practice in Maryland or eligible for admission in Maryland.
• Juris Doctorate from an accredited law school.
• Two years or more supervisory or leadership experience.
• Five+ years as a practicing attorney with litigation experience preferred.
• Knowledge of civil procedure, evidence, and legal research.
• Ability to use computer systems and MS Office 365.
• Strong writing, research, and communication skills.
• Willingness to travel locally and regionally in Maryland.

Responsibilities

• Plan and supervise the TRCP unit's work and staff performance.
• Represent and defend clients in Baltimore County Courts.
• Manage caseloads and ensure high-quality legal representation.
• Support grant reporting, data collection, and compliance.
• Engage with the community and participate in outreach.
