Overview
Reports to: Director of Operations or Vice President of Operations
FLSA Status: Full-Time, Salaried Exempt
Normal Working Hours – Field: 7 am to 3:30 pm, or Office: 8 am to 5 pm, Monday through Friday, plus additional hours as required for completing project duties
Position Objective: Provide overall field leadership for large, complex K-12 construction projects. Responsible for safety, quality, schedule, logistics, subcontractor coordination, and project execution while building strong client relationships and developing field teams.
Responsibilities
- Lead field operations for one or more large-scale K-12 construction projects
- Promote and enforce Joeris' culture of safety
- Manage and coordinate Superintendents, Assistant Superintendents, subcontractors, vendors, and field personnel
- Develop and maintain project schedules, logistics plans, and construction sequencing
- Coordinate subcontractor activities, manpower, procurement schedules, and material deliveries
- Participate in preconstruction planning, constructability reviews, and risk assessments
- Ensure compliance with contract documents, project specifications, and quality standards
- Monitor labor productivity, project costs, and overall field performance
- Manage project documentation, inspections, permits, and closeout activities
- Lead construction activities within occupied campuses while minimizing disruption to operations
- Build and maintain strong relationships with owners, school district representatives, architects, consultants, and trade partners
- Lead project meetings and collaborate with project management teams to ensure project success.
- Mentor and develop Superintendents, Assistant Superintendents, Assistant Project Managers, and emerging field leaders
- Support training initiatives and other duties as assigned
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent
- 15+ years of commercial construction experience
- Proven experience leading large-scale K-12 construction projects valued at $100M+
- Experience managing occupied campuses, phased construction, renovations, and ground-up projects
- OSHA 30 Certification
- Strong understanding of construction means and methods, safety management, scheduling, project logistics, and quality control
- Preferred:
- Degree or coursework in Construction Management, Engineering, Architecture, Drafting, Surveying, or a related field.
- Experience with bond-funded public education projects.
- CPR/AED/First Aid Certification.
- Defensive Driving Certification.
- Confined Space Awareness Certification.
- Experience with Total Station, CAD, or related construction technology.
