Job summary

Shawmut Design and Construction in Providence, RI is seeking a Senior Project Superintendent to lead daily field operations, ensuring safety, quality, and on-time progress, while mentoring staff and subs.

The candidate should have 10+ years as a Project Superintendent at a general contractor, with experience across Life Science, Advanced Tech, Commercial, K‑12, and Higher Education projects, including high-visibility work.

Qualifications

• 10+ years’ experience as a Project Superintendent at a general contractor.
• Experience in managing field personnel and all trades on site, with great communication skills as well as training, developing, and mentoring of others
• Project Experience: Life Science, Advanced Tech, Commercial RIDE K-12, and Higher Education.
• Project Size Experience:10M +
• Experience with complex and logistically challenging, fast-paced and high-visibility projects.

Responsibilities

• Lead all daily field operations to ensure proper site safety, construction, progress, quality control and a clean site
• Develop comprehensive understanding of project strategy and commitments including financial goals, scheduling, logistics, phasing, milestones, inspections
• Work in partnership with PM to maintain an updated and accurate project schedule that reflects the changes in project status and that meets the cost and time requirements of the project
• Demonstrate and maintain effective and open dialogue with the project team regarding changes in work, job conditions, subcontractor relations and any deviation in the direction of the project
• Always promotes positive relationships by dealing expertly and fairly with all subcontractors and vendors while instilling this philosophy in the project team

Salary Range Information

RI Base Salary Range: $150,000 – $250,000 The range stated is specific to Boston. Placement within the listed range depends on many factors including, but not limited to years of experience, project size capability (for Construction & Field roles) and internal company equity.
