Job summary

IPS is seeking a Senior Superintendent for our New Jersey Project Delivery and Construction team, based in Somerset, NJ. The project site is Ridgefield, NJ, onsite full-time.

You will lead field operations, coordinate trades, and support the Project Director and Construction Manager to ensure safety, schedule, and quality on pharma construction projects. You will work with senior leaders to develop execution plans, manage budgets for assigned trades, and review change orders and invoices.

Qualifications

  • 10+ years of experience in Construction Project Delivery.
  • Must have experience on pharma construction project sites.

Responsibilities

  • Lead specific construction site activities for assigned trades and manage parts of field operations.
  • Support Project Director, Project Manager, and Construction Manager for progress oversight and scheduling.
  • Oversee safety, quality, and subcontractor coordination on site.

We are looking for a dynamic Senior Superintendent to join our New Jersey Project Delivery andConstruction team based out of our Somerset, NJ office.

Project Site: Ridgefield, NJ (fulltime, onsite)

In this role, you will lead specific construction site activities, including specific trades, and manage parts of the field operations on projects. You will also support the Project Director, Project Manager, and Construction Manager for oversight of work progress, subcontractor manpower, and correct work coordination between the trades. Additionally, you will assist with ensuring that the subcontractor and vendor work is completed safely and in compliance with the contract documents and project schedule.

Additional Responsibilities
  • Collect and assemble on-site testing reports, inspection reports, and the completion of Construction Completion Records for close-out documentation to the IPS Commissioning/Validation team and client.
  • Assumes primary responsibility for activities associated with specific trades on assigned construction sites.

  • Leads assigned vendors and subcontractors to meet project goals.

  • Ensures achievement of safety objectives and corporate goals on assigned projects.

  • Ensures projects meet applicable quality requirements.

  • Interacts with clients at the site on assigned projects and promotes positive relationships.

  • Supports the Project Director, Project Manager, Construction Manager, and Senior Superintendent in the development and maintenance of preconstruction, construction, and closeout execution plans.

  • Supports the Project Director, and Project Manager, the Construction Manager, and the Senior Superintendent Manager in the development and maintenance of project schedules, including targeted and actual activities lists, durations, and sequencing logic.

  • Develops a working knowledge of the project budget for assigned trades and identifies exceptions to the project

    budget throughout the execution of the project.

  • Supports the Project Director and Project Manager in the development of change control documentation and related

    financial documentation.

  • Oversees the work of assigned vendors and subcontractors to ensure compliance with quality requirements.

  • Participates in constructability reviews of design documents.

  • Supports the Project Director, and Project Manager, the Construction Manager, and the Senior Superintendent in the

    procurement and coordination of all required extra-corporate project resources.

  • Works with the Project Director, and Project Manager, the Construction Manager, and the Senior Superintendent to conduct pre-bid walk-through and descope meetings.

  • Supports the Project Manager in the evaluation of vendor and subcontractor invoices.

  • Assists in the evaluation of requests for payment against actual performance.

  • Manages subcontractor and vendor field T&M change requests.

  • Evaluates the legitimacy of the request in terms of contractual requirements and the validity of the cost estimate.

  • Facilitates communication between subcontractors, vendors, and project personnel, and produces documentation of communication between project participants.

  • Supports the RFI process.

  • Personally, make periodic site inspections and evaluations, and report on the results of those inspections.

  • Supports the Project Director, and Project Manager, the Construction Manager, and the Senior Superintendent in the

    production of daily reports of site conditions, including weather, force levels, and safety issues.

  • In concert with IPS Health and Safety Professionals, reviews job safety analysis documentation and other safety documentation as required by the corporate safety program.

  • Supports the Project Director, Project Manager, Construction Manager, and Senior Superintendent in periodic coordination meetings with trade subcontractors at the site.

  • Supports the Construction Manager and Document Control to ensure that all submittals are distributed, reviewed,

    and stored to meet project and corporate requirements.

  • Reviews submittals as necessary to meet project requirements.

  • Supports the Project Director, Project Manager, Construction Manager, and Senior Superintendent in ensuring

    compliance of project activities with legal and regulatory requirements.

  • Oversees startup activities of assigned trades if included in the project scope.

  • Oversees commissioning activities of assigned trades if included in the project scope.

  • Other duties as assigned

The salary offered for this role is between $137,000 and $210,000, but the actual salary offered is dependent on experience, skill set, and education.

Qualifications & Requirements
  • 10+ years of experience in Construction Project Delivery
  • Must have experience on pharma construction project sites
Preferred Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Construction Management or a related discipline or an equivalent technical degree
  • Background in the construction trades
Physical Demands
  • Must be able to stand, sit, and walk for prolonged periods.
  • Must possess the ability to stoop, kneel, crouch, and crawl as required.
  • Must be able to lift and move objects weighing up to 50 pounds.
  • Must be able to climb ladders as necessary.
Work Environment
  • Must be able to work in both indoor and outdoor environments, which may include exposure to varying working conditions.
  • Must be able to adhere to strict cleanroom gowning protocol.
Travel
  • This position will have 25% travel, or as required by the assigned project.
  • You may be assigned to a client site for an extended period of time.
  • Overnight travel or staying in the city of the Client’s location is possible, depending on the assignment.

  • You will visit construction sites and will be required to take site safety training and adhere to site safety rules.
  • Must have access to reliable transportation.
  • Must have the ability to travel and commute on a daily or routine basis.
  • Work schedule may require flexibility, including availability to work 1st, 2nd, or 3rd shifts, as well as weekends.
Safety
  • This position is a safety-sensitive position.
  • The employee is designated for field work and attends activities at client sites where they work in construction, process, packaging, manufacturing, research, or other "non-administrative" areas.
