Old Colony YMCA is seeking a Senior Enrichment Instructor to support the Summer Scholars program in Brockton. Under the Enrichment Services Coordinator, you will supervise activities, ensure safety, and uphold the YMCA mission and policies.

You will lead enrichment activities, coordinate with teachers, maintain behavior expectations, and serve as a positive role model while engaging with children, parents, and school staff throughout the summer schedule.

Qualifications

  • Must be at least 18 years old with at least 1 year of school-age experience.
  • High School diploma or equivalent.
  • CPR/AED and First Aid certifications required.
  • Ability to create and sustain a culture of excellence and work as part of a cohesive team.
  • Ability to lift/move heavy equipment and clean when necessary.
  • Will sometimes work early mornings, late nights and weekends.
  • Strong oral communication skills for occasional public speaking responsibilities.
  • Ability to sit, stand, bend, lift up to 75lbs (children) and move intermittently.

  • Assist with planning, developing, and implementing the program curriculum per regulations.
  • Lead enrichment activities according to weekly plans and quality requirements.
  • Collaborate with teachers and paraprofessionals to integrate social-emotional learning with a trauma-informed lens.
  • Help develop and write curriculum including Y Chat and CDLI Curriculum.
  • Maintain proper behavior of children per policies and guidelines.
  • Act as a positive role model and communicate with parents and school staff.
  • Maintain attendance records and complete necessary reports.
  • Establish relationships with school personnel and site staff.

Our Senior Enrichment Leaders Will Work

Under the supervision of the Enrichment Services Coordinator the Senior Enrichment Instructor will assist in supervising the program and ensuring a safe, healthy, and constructive environment for all children involved in the program. In addition, the Senior Enrichment Instructor will ensure that all areas of responsibilities of the job reflect the mission beliefs of the Old Colony Y. S/He will uphold the employee code of conduct and will ensure that all areas of the job responsibilities reflect the mission of the Old Colony Y, and the regulating agency. The Senior Enrichment Instructor will display and encourage the character traits of caring, responsibility, honesty and respect in the fulfillment of all job duties.

Program Responsibility
  • Understand and ensure Brockton Public Schools (BPS) policies and regulations as well as Old Colony Y policies (Child and Youth Care policy, Child Guidance Policy, Health Care Policy) are maintained at all times.
  • Assist with planning, developing, and implementing the program curriculum in accordance with BPS regulations and Old Colony YMCA’S policies.
  • Lead enrichment activities according to the quality requirements of the Old Colony Y and the prescribed curriculum that is planned each week.
  • Collaborate with Teacher and the Para to ensure enrichment activities incorporate social emotional learning and are delivered with a trauma-informed lens.
  • Assist with developing and writing curriculum including Y Chat, Asset Curriculum and CDLI Curriculum.
  • Maintain proper behavior of children at all times with strict adherence to both the YMCA Child Guidance Policy, and the Child Care Policy.
  • Act in a public relations capacity when communicating with parents, school personnel and colleagues.
  • Act as a positive role model.
  • Help maintain attendance records and all necessary reports.
  • Establish and maintain working relationships with school or other site-specific personnel.
Requirements
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE/PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
  • Minimum of 18 years of age, and have at least 1 year of school age experience.
  • Have a High School diploma or equivalent.
  • CPR/AED and First Aid certifications required.
  • Ability to create and sustain a culture of excellence and work and thrive as part of a cohesive team.
  • Ability to lift/move heavy equipment and clean when necessary.
  • Will sometimes work early morning, late nights and weekends.
  • Strong oral communication skills required for occasional public speaking responsibilities.
  • Ability to sit, stand, bend, lift up to 75lbs on occasion and 40lbs frequently (children) and move intermittently during work hours.
  • Ability to thoroughly understand Y-USA's three focus areas: Youth Development, Healthy Living, and Social Responsibility; proven ability to identify and meet the needs of the health seeker
