Job summary

Johnson, Mirmiran & Thompson is seeking a seasoned SUE Project Manager to lead utility investigations across transportation and infrastructure projects in Columbia, SC. You will own projects from proposal to final deliverables, mentoring field crews and coordinating with design partners to ensure high-quality outputs in accordance with ASCE 38 standards.

Qualifications

8–10+ years in Subsurface Utility Engineering or utility mapping.
Experience managing SUE projects from proposal through closeout.
Strong knowledge of ASCE 38 quality levels.
Experience coordinating with design engineers, survey teams, and utility owners.
Excellent communication and leadership skills.

Responsibilities

Manage SUE projects end-to-end: scopes, schedules, budgets, and final deliverables.
Lead proposal development and client presentations.
Oversee utility designation and field test hole operations.
Ensure QA/QC across field data and CAD deliverables.
Coordinate with engineers, survey teams, and utility owners throughout project lifecycle.
Mentor staff and develop SUE technicians and junior project staff.
Prepare technical reports.
Manage multiple SUE crews and subcontractors across concurrent projects.
