Job summary

LaBella Associates seeks an experienced Subsurface Utility Engineering Project Manager for its Rochester, NY or Buffalo, NY offices. Lead SUE projects, manage staff, budgets, and client relationships while expanding SUE services regionally.

The role requires strong project management and leadership, CAD/GIS workflow proficiency, and travel to project sites. This full-time, onsite position offers competitive benefits.

Qualifications

• Minimum of a 2-year degree in a related technical field or equivalent experience in SUE.
• At least 10 years of progressively responsible experience in SUE, utility locating, surveying, or related infrastructure work.
• Demonstrated knowledge of SUE practices and LC/Quality Levels D through A.
• Experience managing project scopes, schedules, budgets, staffing, invoicing, and client expectations.
• Experience with proposals, client relationships, and growth initiatives.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills; ability to convey technical information clearly.

Responsibilities

• Manage local SUE projects, training, and career pathing.
• Oversee a portfolio of SUE and multi-disciplinary projects: schedules, financials, staff, client interface.
• Represent the land survey group on multi-discipline project teams.
• Oversee day-to-day operations of field and office staff for multiple SUE projects.
• QAQC of final SUE deliverables and weekly team coordination meetings.
• Identify and pursue new business opportunities and expand SUE services regionally.
• Collaborate with disciplines for proposals and new technology.
• Prepare staff reviews, time sheets, and project billing.
