Job summary

Jacobs is seeking an experienced structural engineer to lead projects for electrical utility clients in substations, transmission, and generation facilities. The role emphasizes technical direction, design reviews, and cost savings while mentoring junior staff and collaborating with global teams.

The position requires a PE license or eligibility, a civil/structural engineering degree, and 10+ years of relevant experience.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in civil/structural engineering from an accredited university.
• Licensed Professional Engineer preferred.
• 10+ years of experience in structural engineering, preferably for electrical utility clients, with experience in electrical substation, transmission and distribution, or thermal generation facilities.

Responsibilities

• Work with multi‑disciplinary global project teams, clients and stakeholders.
• Provide technical direction and review of designs developed by intermediate and entry‑level engineers.
• Review client standards for program and project delivery.
• Review designs for cost‑saving opportunities and consistency.
• Develop conceptual designs and scopes of work for projects undergoing regulatory approvals.
• Respond to RFIs and attend pre‑bid meetings.
• Lead constructability meetings with the construction oversight team.
• Guide the project through engineering activities in the stage gate process.
• Review as‑built drawings and approve them when finalized.
