Job summary

B19 Consulting is seeking a Lead Project Substation Protection & Controls Engineer in Atlanta to drive critical power infrastructure from design to energization. You will lead teams, develop relay diagrams, and ensure safety, quality, and on-time delivery.

The role offers a base salary of 175,000–190,000 USD with bonus potential and comprehensive benefits, with hybrid or 100% remote flexibility. Travel is approximately 10% to meet project needs.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or a related discipline.
• 8+ years of substation protection and controls design experience.
• Proven experience leading and delivering substation P&C engineering projects.
• Strong expertise in AC/DC schematics, relay one-lines, protection systems, control panels, and wiring diagrams.
• Travel approximately 10% as required by projects.

Responsibilities

• Lead substation protection and control engineering projects from initial design through implementation and energization.
• Develop relay one-line diagrams, AC schematics, and DC control and protection schematics.
• Design protection systems, control panels, wiring diagrams, and physical layouts.
• Prepare accurate Bills of Materials (BOMs) aligned with project specs.
• Perform engineering design reviews for quality, safety, and constructability.
• Provide technical guidance during installation, testing, commissioning, and energization.
• Ensure compliance with applicable electrical codes and utility standards.
• Collaborate with engineers, designers, and CAD technicians to deliver high-quality packages.
• Support project delivery by maintaining technical standards, schedules, budgets, and quality.
