Job summary

Meade seeks a Senior Protection & Control Engineer to lead and execute high-voltage substation projects. You will produce detailed P&C design packages, coordinate with SCADA, civil, and physical teams, and mentor junior engineers. 7+ years in utilities/ EPCs with a PE license is required.

Ideal candidates have experience with SEL relays (351, 451, 735, 487), AutoCAD or MicroStation, and a strong grasp of IEEE/NESC standards. This full-time role offers engaging, fast-paced design work.

Qualifications

• 7+ years of substation protection and control design experience for utilities, EPCs, or engineering firms.
• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering.
• Valid Electrical PE license.
• Proficient with protection one-lines, AC/DC schematics, and panel wiring diagrams.
• Familiarity with protection relays (SEL 351, 451, 735, 487).
• Proficient with CAD tools such as AutoCAD or MicroStation.
• Strong understanding of control schemes, relay logic, and SCADA integration.
• Knowledge of IEEE, NESC, and utility-specific standards.

Responsibilities

• Lead or support detailed Protection & Control designs for greenfield and brownfield substation projects.
• Develop complete P&C deliverables: one-line diagrams, schematics, wiring diagrams, panel layouts, BOMs, cable schedules, control logic, and I/O mapping.
• Specify and apply protection relays and settings (SEL, GE, ABB).
• Apply industry standards (IEEE, NESC, client guidelines).
• Coordinate with SCADA/RTU, communications, physical, and civil teams.
• Perform drawing QA/QC and mentor junior designers/engineers.
• Interface with clients and field teams during reviews and construction.
• Provide technical support for relay testing, FAT/SAT, and energization.
