Senior Substation Project Engineer Job Summary

POWER Engineers is seeking a senior electrical engineer with substation design experience to join as a Substation Project Engineer in our Power Delivery Substation Department, based in either our Freeport, Maine or Boston, Massachusetts (Foxborough) office. A hybrid work environment is available, requiring the employee to live within driving distance of the office.

Roles and Responsibilities

• Develop and maintain relationships with local clients.
• Mentor junior staff in substation project execution.
• Lead detailed design of medium to extra high voltage utility substations, including one-line diagrams, three-line diagrams, AC/DC schematics, wiring diagrams, SCADA, communications, conduit and cable routing, physical layouts, equipment selection, specifications, proposal development, cost estimates, and scheduling.
• Ensure adherence to POWER quality procedures and optimal resource allocation for the team.
• Perform QA/QC on deliverables across multiple offices.
• Manage project schedules, budgets, and quality standards.

Required Education/Experience

• Ability to serve as a Senior Substation Project Engineer in the Freeport, Maine location.
• BSEE or BSEET from an accredited university.
• PE license or the ability to obtain within one year.
• Experience with 15kV to 345kV substation design and IEEE/ANSI standards.
• Management experience of at least five team members.
• Proven experience as a project engineer for multiple concurrent projects.
• Strong communication skills in English, both written and oral, for effective collaboration.
• Legal authorization to work permanently in the U.S. without sponsorship.

Desired Education/Experience

• Over ten years of utility substation design experience.
• Established relationships with local clients.
• Experience with 345kV to 500kV substation design.
