Job summary

K&A Power Group – Greenville, SC seeks a Substation Construction & Maintenance Planner with extensive substation experience to plan and coordinate maintenance and construction activities. Travel to field locations is required, with mileage reimbursement provided.

The role emphasizes safe, efficient execution and adherence to safety and NERC standards. Responsibilities include developing work plans, sequencing, outage plans, and coordinating with Transmission, Distribution, and Generation teams

Qualifications

• 10+ years of experience in transmission line and/or substation maintenance, construction, commissioning, or operations.
• Experience planning and coordinating substation maintenance and construction activities.
• Ability to independently develop work plans for complex construction or maintenance projects.

Responsibilities

• Plan, coordinate, and schedule complex substation construction and maintenance activities.
• Develop detailed work plans, construction sequences, equipment outage plans, and temporary facility installation plans.
• Coordinate with Transmission, Distribution, and Generation teams to ensure safe and efficient project execution.
• Review construction sequencing, switching plans, isolation procedures, and clearance documentation.
• Lead planning and scheduling calls for projects of varying complexity.
• Identify and mitigate operational and construction risks associated with outages and clearances.
• Interpret engineering drawings, technical specifications, and procedures.
• Ensure compliance with safety requirements and procedures, and with NERC standards.
• Maintain accurate project records and scheduling information.
• Provide technical guidance for substation maintenance and construction activities.
• Support development and improvement of planning procedures.
