Xcel Energy in Minneapolis, MN seeks a senior engineering SME to apply advanced theories and lead major projects in electric and natural gas systems. You will serve as a technical leader, develop standards, mentor staff, and coordinate cross-functional teams to deliver complex solutions.

The role requires PE registration or equivalent experience, a strong engineering background, and a track record in the utility sector.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in Engineering from ABET accredited curriculum (or recognized equivalency).
9+ years relevant engineering experience with a PE (Professional Engineer) registration required, or 15+ years relevant engineering experience without a PE (Professional Engineer) required.
Ability to demonstrate the unique technical skills and core competencies for this engineering level established & documented by the organization.

Responsibilities

Applies extensive technical expertise and has a higher-level understanding of related disciplines; contributes to new principles and standards.
Conceives plans and conducts research to develop procedures, codes and standards for complex problem areas.
Exhibits technical leadership on self-initiated assignments with long-term business impact.
May lead multiple critical projects including design, installation, commissioning and evaluation of work progress.
