Job summary

WSP is seeking a Substation Senior Electrical Engineer (Station Physical) for its Fort Mill, SC office. The role focuses on design and construction support for utility-scale substations from 12 kV to 345 kV, with a team in the Power & Energy Substation group.

The candidate will lead technical analysis, develop layouts and diagrams, and collaborate with multidisciplinary teams while mentoring junior engineers. Travel may be required and a BS in Electrical Engineering is required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent.
• 5–7 years of post-education experience as an electrical engineer on large capital projects.
• Knowledge of substation physical engineering principles for 12 kV–345 kV substations.
• Experience with infrastructure planning, design, and construction.
• Ability to perform technical computations from plans, specs, and regulations.
• Project management experience on small to mid-size substation projects.

Responsibilities

• Develop electrical calculations for loads and equipment sizing.
• Create one-line diagrams and station physical layouts.
• Prepare plans, specifications and cost estimates with cross-discipline coordination.
• Develop and update electrical infrastructure layout plans for clients and owners.
• Guide junior engineers and ensure QA/QC.
• Review third-party design documents and procurement lists.
