Job summary

Arizona Public Service - APS seeks a Substation Engineering III/Senior to provide technical engineering, design and analytical support for Transmission and Distribution Substations in Phoenix. You will perform tasks across Civil, Electrical, and Protection and Control disciplines, offering guidance and leadership with potential shift work.

The role requires a four-year engineering degree from an ABET-accredited program and significant relevant experience, with duties spanning plan preparation,

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in engineering or related applied science from ABET-accredited institution or equivalent.
• Five or eight years of engineering experience for Engineer III/Senior levels.
• Experience with design, analysis, and verification activities.

Responsibilities

• Prepare engineering plans, designs, analyses, specifications and cost estimates.
• Ensure compliance with design, regulatory, operating and maintenance requirements.
• Interface with customers and departments to clarify objectives, budgets and schedules.
• Provide technical guidance and leadership to engineers and staff.
• Oversee small- to medium-scale projects, coordinating planning, design and scheduling.
• Mentor junior engineers and support long-range site strategy.
• Recommend improvements to increase operating efficiency and project quality.
• Maintain awareness of current technology and industry developments.
• Review and verify analyses, evaluations, and investigations.
