Job Details

We are currently seeking a dynamic and innovative Senior Substation Engineer to join our team. The ideal candidate will play a key role in designing, planning, and executing various substation projects. This position will offer you the opportunity to work in a project team environment with other engineers and designers involved in the detailed electrical design and project management of high voltage substation projects. If you are a passionate professional with a proven track record in substation engineering, we would love to hear from you!

Responsibilities

• Developing design packages for medium to high voltage substation projects.
• Conducting and coordinating detailed phases of engineering work in part of a major project or in a total project of moderate scope.
• Performing substation design calculations and analysis; such as short circuit stand, ground grid analysis & design, lightning protection, voltage drop and flicker analysis.
• Preparing engineering reports and technical studies, and presenting findings to clients and peers.
• Reviewing and validating the detailed design for high voltage substation projects.
• Coordinating with project teams including project managers, designers and field personnel.
• Supporting project proposal development including scope definition, configuration, implementation, tracking and control of projects.
• Mentoring and providing guidance to developing engineers within the department.

Qualifications

• A Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field. A Master’s Degree will be considered as a plus.
• A minimum of 5 years of experience in substation design and project engineering.
• A professional engineering license or the ability to obtain one within one year.
• Experience with high voltage substation design (69kV through 500kV) including knowledge of substation components, principles of operation, and the inter-relation among systems.
• Proficiency in using AutoCAD, MicroStation, and other relevant software.
• An understanding of engineering standards including NEC, NESC, NEMA, IEEE and ANSI.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work in a team environment.
• Strong problem-solving skills, attention to detail and the ability to think critically.
• Experience in solar power generation would be considered as an advantage.
