Job summary

HDR is seeking a Power Engineer to lead power design activities for projects, coordinating the design team from schematic design through contract documents. The role requires a Bachelor's in Electrical Engineering, 10+ years in the Power Market Sector, SCADA experience, and a PE or P.Eng license; experience with consulting firms is preferred.

Proficiency in AutoCAD, PLS CAD, Plant 3D, AutoPipe and Revit is expected.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Engineering.
• 10+ years of experience in Power Market Sector project execution.
• Professional Engineer (PE) or P.Eng license recognized by the licensing board.
• Experience with engineering consulting firms.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate the work of the power design team through schematic design development and contract document phase.
• Establish meetings and participate in reviews with governing agencies for code compliance.
• Coordinate workload to complete the deliverable on schedule.
• Conduct work sessions at the project site with the Project Manager and other disciplines.
• Review project documents for conflicts with other disciplines.
• Write and edit project specifications.
• Coordinate with affected disciplines on RFIs, COs, and incorporate changes into documents.
• Provide construction contract administration as needed.
• Conduct QA/QC on the work of other Engineers, Project Coordinators, Designers, or BIM Technicians.
• Perform other duties as needed.

In the role of Power Engineer, we'll count on you to:

• Coordinate the work of the power design team through the schematic design development and contract document phase of a project

• Coordinate with and assist affected disciplines with addenda, requests for information (RFIs), change orders (COs), and take responsibility to incorporate agreed-upon changes into the project documents
• Provide construction contract administration as needed
• Conduct QA/QC on the work of other Engineers, Project Coordinators or Designers, or BIM Technicians as needed
• Perform other duties as needed

Preferred Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering

• Masters degree in Engineering

• 5+ years of experience in Substation communication

• SCADA Engineering experience

• Previous experience with an engineering consulting firm

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Engineering
• A minimum of 10 years of experience
• Requires professional engineering license recognized by the licensing board for the location of the position offered. Example: Professional Engineer (PE or P.Eng) license.
• Extensive experience in project execution within the Power Market Sector
• Proficient computer skills in Microsoft Office as well as standard Power Market Sector design software (examples include PLS CAD, AutoCAD, Plant 3D, AutoPipe, and Revit)
