Job summary

Ampirical in the United States is seeking Substation Testing & Commissioning Technicians to support acceptance testing, maintenance, and commissioning of high‑voltage equipment. This is a remote position with substantial regional travel (up to 75%).

You will work hands-on with breakers, transformers, protective relays, SCADA systems, and related tools, traveling to project sites while following safety standards and producing accurate reports.

Qualifications

• Minimum education/experience as listed for testing and commissioning substations.
• NICET II or higher preferred; ability to obtain TWIC card.
• Strong mechanical/technical aptitude and safety-first mindset.

Responsibilities

• Independently perform testing and commissioning on circuit breakers, transformers, CTs/PTs, switches, bus systems and relays.
• Conduct insulation resistance, contact resistance, power factor, TTR, winding resistance, timing tests.
• Troubleshoot relay misoperations and document test results and redline drawings.
• Travel regionally/nationally (50–75%) including overnight stays.
