Job summary

Firefly Aerospace is seeking a Senior or Lead Structures Responsible Engineer for Primary Structures to develop pressurized structures across the product life cycle for Launch Vehicles. You will join a highly skilled team involved in analysis, design, fabrication, and testing with a strong emphasis on collaboration and a can-do attitude.

The role requires a B.S. in aerospace or mechanical engineering and 6+ years in a structural design-related role, plus advanced CAD and FEA experience.

Qualifications

• B.S. degree in aerospace or mechanical engineering.
• 6+ years of experience in a structural system design-related role.
• Experience with 3-D CAD software and structural analysis tools (NX, FiberSim, Nastran, ANSYS, FEMAP, Simcenter).

Responsibilities

• Formulate cradle to grave road map for hardware including conceptual design, layout, sizing, production and testing.
• Design and development of composite pressurized structures.
• Mass optimization and requalification of designs.
• Support from concept through testing, qualification and production.
• Support configuration development and trade studies.
• Maintain requirements, schedule, budget and status.
• Create CAD, manufacturing drawings, specifications and documentation.
• Perform first order strength and sizing calculations for the structure.
