Job summary

AE2S is seeking a Structural Project Engineer in Rapid City, SD to work with a team of engineers on diverse commercial and industrial projects. The role emphasizes collaboration with clients, project managers, and structural staff to deliver robust design and analysis.

The ideal candidate will have a civil/structural background, PE eligibility within six months, strong communication skills, and experience with structural analysis software.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in civil engineering or related field.
• Registration as a Professional Engineer in primary state of residence or ability to obtain within 6 months.
• Strong oral and written communication skills.
• Experience with structural analysis programs.
• Ability to travel as required for project/client responsibilities and business development.
• Ability to work remotely and manage projects, clients, and project team members.
• Knowledge of regional design standards, construction practices, and geologic concerns.
• Onboarding requirements including background check, drug screen, and MVR as applicable.

Responsibilities

• Provide professional services for a wide variety of projects including design development, final design, construction administration, and forensic engineering.
• Design structural systems of wood, masonry, structural steel, steel joists, concrete (reinforced and prestressed), and light gauge steel.
• Design deep and shallow foundation systems for various geologic conditions.
• Perform structural design of water and wastewater treatment facilities, including watertight structures.
• Lead specific tasks on large projects and manage smaller projects.
• Maintain and develop client relationships and pursue new business opportunities.
• Assist in identifying, evaluating, pursuing, and managing project opportunities.
• Provide quality control and quality assurance on all project work.
• Maintain budgets and project schedules.
• Coordinate, facilitate, and attend internal and external meetings.
