Senior Project Engineer – Structural

Join Hixson Architecture, Engineering & Interiors, a nationally recognized design firm known for its collaborative culture and award-winning projects. We’re seeking a Senior Structural Project Engineer with expertise in designing structural systems for large industrial and warehouse facilities. You’ll be part of a multidisciplinary team of architects, engineers, and project managers working on complex projects up to $500 million for leading brands in the food and beverage industry. This key role combines deep technical expertise, problem‑solving, and mentorship within a values‑driven environment that prioritizes teamwork and professional growth.

Position Overview

Lead the structural engineering portion of major projects across industrial, commercial, science + technology, and workplace sectors.
Manage all structural engineering deliverables including data collection, design, specifications, contract documents, shop drawing review, and construction coordination.
Collaborate proactively with multi-discipline design teams to achieve innovative, buildable solutions.
Serve as a mentor and technical resource for junior engineers.

Qualifications

BS in Civil Engineering (Structural emphasis) required; MS in Civil or Structural Engineering a plus.
PE and/or SE license (required in at least one U.S. state).
10+ years of structural design and project leadership experience.
Proficient in the design of structural steel, concrete, masonry, cold‑formed metal framing, wood framing, and foundation systems.
Understanding and knowledge of structural requirements for precast and tilt‑up concrete projects.
Demonstrated proficiency in producing structural construction documents within the Autodesk Construction Cloud (ACC) and BIM environment using Revit.
Expertise in structural analysis software, such as: RAM Structural System, RAM Elements, Tekla TEDDS, Tekla Structural Designer, RISA, CFS, Anchor Designer (Strong‑Tie), Hilti Profis, Ideastatica, Excel/VBA.
In‑depth knowledge of U.S. Building Codes and Reference Standards.
