Job summary

KS Engineers, P.C. is seeking a Senior Structural Inspector to perform field inspections of structural and bridge construction and rehabilitation projects.

You will review plans, monitor compliance with NYCDOT requirements, and document activities with daily reports and photos. The role requires a Bachelor's in civil engineering or related field, 5+ years of inspection experience on bridges or transportation projects, and the ability to read engineering drawings.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in civil engineering or related field.
• 5+ years of structural/bridge construction inspection experience.
• Experience with bridge rehabilitation, structural steel, or transportation infrastructure projects.
• Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, specifications, and shop drawings.
• Knowledge of structural steel inspection, concrete inspection, welding, and high-strength bolting.
• Ability to work independently in the field and maintain accurate inspection records.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to work outdoors and at heights.

Responsibilities

• Perform field inspections of structural and bridge construction/rehabilitation work.
• Inspect structural steel, concrete, reinforcing steel, welding, bolting, and related construction activities.
• Review plans, specifications, shop drawings, and approved materials.
• Monitor contractor operations for compliance with NYCDOT requirements.
• Document daily activities, quantities, deficiencies, and corrective actions.
• Prepare daily inspection reports and photographic documentation.
• Coordinate with the Resident Engineer, Project Manager, contractors, and other inspectors.
• Identify construction issues and communicate deficiencies to the project team.
• Perform field measurements and verify completed work.
• Work safely around active roadways, bridges, elevated structures, and construction equipment.
