Job summary

WSP in the United States is seeking an Assistant Vice President, Structural Engineer to join its A/E practice in Portland, Maine, with flexible attendance across Maine offices and a weekly visit to Portland. The role centers on leading structural design as the Engineer of Record on multi-disciplinary projects.

You will mentor junior engineers, collaborate across disciplines, and drive growth of the A/E delivery team while upholding WSP's standards and ethics.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Civil/Structural Engineering.
• Professional Engineer registration in the U.S.
• 10+ years of relevant experience.
• Experience delivering projects from concept through construction and completion.
• Expertise in developing construction drawings and specifications.

Responsibilities

• Lead a team of engineers and designers on structural engineering and design activities from concept to construction documents for multidisciplinary projects.
• Communicate with clients to understand project requirements.
• Analyze new and existing structures per required code.
• Develop calculation packages as required.
• Perform existing structures assessment to evaluate capacity and loading requirements; produce technical reports with recommendations.
• Develop structural models to solve engineering problems.
