J&T Business Consulting in Los Angeles seeks a Senior Structural Design Engineer with wood frame design experience to join our team. You will lead diverse projects, apply advanced structural methods, and mentor junior engineers while coordinating with architects and clients.

Ideal candidates have a Master’s in structural engineering, a P.E. license, and 7+ years of design experience across building types with CBC/AISC/ACI/NDS knowledge and strong communication skills.

Qualifications

• 7+ years of structural design experience across diverse building types.
• Master’s degree with a specialization in structural engineering.
• Professional Engineer (P.E.) license required.
• Hands-on structural design experience in post-tensioned concrete, reinforced concrete, wood, masonry, and structural steel.
• Strong technical understanding of seismic design principles and structural dynamics.
• Working knowledge of the California Building Code (CBC) and relevant design standards (e.g., AISC, ACI, NDS).
• Proven ability to accurately read, interpret, and review complex construction drawing sets.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills for collaborating with clients, architects, and internal teams.

Responsibilities

• Engineering Design: Develop structural solutions for high-profile projects.
• Project & Team Leadership: Manage projects, oversee workflows, and manage project financials.
• Quality Assurance:Assist with internal QA/QC design and drawing reviews.
• Client Relationships: Develop and foster key client relationships as a technical liaison.
• Business Development: Support marketing and business development to grow the local practice.
• Mentorship: Train, mentor, and guide younger engineers.
• Standards & Innovation: Maintain firm design standards and contribute to AI/automation initiatives.
