Job summary

Northrop Grumman is seeking Sr. Principal Structural Engineers or Design Engineers – Level 4 in Promontory, UT to define the art of the possible from day one. You will join a multi-discipline team focused on solid rocket motor design and analysis for government and commercial programs.

Selected candidates may match to teams across nozzle design, SLS integration, and bonded/propellant design. This role requires a DoD Secret clearance and offers a comprehensive Total Rewards package with

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in engineering with 8+ years professional experience, or Master’s with 6+ years, or PhD with 4+ years.
Ability to obtain and maintain U.S. DoD Secret clearance.
Strong knowledge of solid mechanics and mechanics principles.
Excellent written and oral communication and time management.
Experience working in multidisciplinary teams.

Responsibilities

Support design and analysis of solid rocket motor hardware (nozzles, cases, propellant, interfaces).
Create accurate 3D models, drawings, and specifications for motor components.
Conduct trade studies and implement design changes balancing performance, cost, and schedule.
Develop engineering documentation including reports, drawings, and test plans.
Perform structural analysis (closed-form and finite element) and interpret test data.
Plan and support development, qualification, and production testing of flight hardware.
Provide floor and production support; troubleshoot issues and disposition nonconformances.
Collaborate with Manufacturing, Quality, Safety, Thermal, Materials, and Test teams.
