United States Digital Space LLC is seeking an experienced Senior Structural Engineer to coordinate complex Civil/Structural tasks for an API Manufacturing Facility in Houston, TX. You will liaise between design teams, site construction, and fabrication vendors to ensure smooth production and erection of structural steel.

Responsibilities

• Designs, develops, modifies, and evaluates Civil/Structural components and processes utilizing EDPs, BSAPs, DCCL and DRNs.
• Designs structures using advanced structural analysis knowledge including statics, dynamics, and materials engineering.
• Determines use of steel, wood, masonry, and concrete to meet load or stress requirements.
• Originates and checks complex structural engineering deliverables such as steel and concrete calculations and specifications.
• Analyzes problems with conflicting design requirements and sketches solutions.
• Analyzes unconventional materials and coordination requirements.
• Plans and prepares equipment, work and material specifications, bid evaluations and award recommendations.
• Prepares procurement and subcontract documents and conducts technical bid evaluations.
• Supports project and construction management in addressing Civil/Structural requirements on site.

Job Summary:

In this role you will be responsible for coordinating complex structural engineering tasks between our design teams, the construction team at site and the structural steel fabrication vendor to facilitate smooth production and erection of structural steel for the project. You will engage with our partners proactively to identify key roadblocks early and work to resolve them. You will be responsible for coordinating resolutions of PTRs as they arise on the Structural Scope of the project.

Major Responsibilities:

• Designs, develops, modifies, and evaluates Civil/Structural components and processes utilizing relevant Engineering Department Procedures (EDPs), design standards and guides, the company Standard Application Programs (BSAPs) and Design Control Check List (DCCL) and Design Review Notices (DRNs)
• Designs structures using advanced knowledge of structural analysis, including statics, dynamics, and materials engineering
• Determines the appropriate use of various structural elements such as steel, wood, masonry, and concrete to ensure appropriate material is used based on load or stress requirements
• Originates and checks complex structural engineering deliverables, such as steel and concrete calculations, specifications, and material requisitions
• Analyzes problems with conflicting design requirements, sketches ideas and possible solutions
• Analyzes and reports on the suitability of unconventional materials, techniques and/or difficult coordination requirements
• Plans, coordinates, or prepares equipment, work and material specifications, bid evaluations and award recommendations
• Prepares procurement and subcontract requisition documents and performs associated technical bid evaluations with award recommendations
• Provides assistance to project and construction management in identifying and complying with project Civil/Structural requirements and in addressing issues as they arise during project execution

Education and Experience Requirements:

• Requires a bachelor's degree (or international equivalent) and 8-10 years of relevant experience or 12-14 years of relevant work experience
