Job summary

Akima Infrastructure Services, LLC (AIS) is actively seeking a Structural Engineer to develop high-quality design packages and provide field technical support at the Y-12 National Security Complex in Oak Ridge, TN, and the Pantex Plant in Amarillo, TX.

The candidate will work within an integrated project team, applying established engineering practices, codes, and standards to evaluate facilities, perform seismic analyses, and prepare construction drawings.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in civil or Structural Engineering from an ABET-accredited school.
• Active PE license is preferred.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.
• Ability to obtain/maintain a DOE Q clearance.
• Willingness to work in a production environment.
• Pre-employment drug screen and medical examinations may be required.

Responsibilities

• Develop high-quality detailed design packages and provide engineering field support.
• Prepare conceptual deliverables: cost estimates, BOMs, and design criteria.
• Lead or participate in an integrated project team with system engineers.
• Perform site walkdowns to generate design documents and support field personnel.
• Apply established engineering practices and codes for structural solutions.
• Develop structural drawings for steel, concrete, and other materials; prepare construction specifications.
