Job summary

Otto Aerospace is seeking a senior design engineer to join the structural design team. You will lead wide-ranging structural design activities for composites and metallic airframes, align with FAR Part 23/25, and drive the development of standard processes.

You will coordinate with analysis, systems, testing, and manufacturing teams while mentoring junior engineers. The role involves remote work with travel to Ft Worth, TX, and eventual onsite relocation to Jacksonville, FL as the program

Qualifications

• 4+ years of aerospace structural design experience.
• Expertise in fixed wing, fuselage, empennage, or aircraft structural design.
• Expertise in composite materials and manufacturing processes.
• Proficiency in FAR Part 23 and Part 25 certification requirements for structure.

Responsibilities

• Lead clean sheet structural designs through all design phases from concept to certification.
• Manage aircraft zones and show compliance with Part 23/25 and internal requirements.
• Oversee multidisciplinary trade studies to meet requirements and optimize KVIs.
• Develop and author company structural design processes and procedures.
• Lead development of design tools and best practices for composites and metals.
• Manage structural suppliers and partners; mentor junior engineers.
