Job summary

Fruition Group US is seeking a senior aerospace structural engineer to own composite airframe design from concept through production release. You will translate system requirements into efficient structural layouts and develop robust CAD models with GD&T practices.

The role demands 5+ years in structural design with composites, knowledge of laminate behavior and aerospace standards. Collaboration with manufacturing and suppliers is essential to ensure scalable, certifiable solutions.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Aerospace Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field (advanced degree is a plus).
• 5+ years of experience in structural design, with a strong focus on composite materials.
• Solid understanding of composite behavior, laminate design, and load paths.
• Hands-on familiarity with composite manufacturing, bonding, and assembly processes.
• Working knowledge of aerospace standards and certification frameworks, including DoD environments.

Responsibilities

• Own the design of composite airframe structures, including primary components and key interfaces.
• Convert system requirements into practical structural layouts that meet weight, strength, and cost targets.
• Build and refine 3D CAD models and detailed part definitions using GD&T best practices.
• Perform initial sizing calculations for structures and joints to guide design decisions.
• Lead design progression from concept through release, including reviews and cross-team alignment.
• Work closely with manufacturing and suppliers to ensure designs are feasible and scalable.
• Develop and improve internal design standards, templates, and workflows.
• Support rapid prototyping efforts and transition designs into production-ready configurations.
• Provide guidance and mentorship to less experienced engineers.
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to ensure structural solutions integrate effectively and meet certification needs.

Our team is moving quickly to launch the first aircraft designed for autonomous operations, alongside Command & Control software that enables fleets of autonomous assets to work together under human supervision.

The Role

You will take ownership of airframe structural design, focusing on composite systems that enable high-performance, lightweight aircraft. You’ll be involved from early concept definition through to production release, ensuring designs are structurally sound, efficient to manufacture, and aligned with program goals. This role combines technical depth with hands‑on execution in a fast-paced development environment.

Required Qualifications

• Working knowledge of aerospace standards and certification frameworks, including DoD environments

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience developing new aircraft or working in early-stage product environments
• Background in composite aircraft structures and bonded assemblies
• Familiarity with PLM systems such as Teamcenter
