Job summary

Redtree Engineering is seeking a Senior Structural Engineer for lead responsibility in industrial facilities, energy infrastructure, and data centers. The role combines hands-on structural analysis with technical leadership and mentorship of junior staff.

You will oversee steel and concrete design, apply codes, interact with clients, and drive project success from concept through construction in a fully remote setting within the United States.

Qualifications

Position Summary

Redtree Engineering is seeking an experienced Senior Structural Engineer to lead structural analysis, design, and engineering development activities for industrial facilities, power generation projects, energy infrastructure, data centers, and heavy industrial applications. We are seeking senior-level engineers with 10+ years of experience who can work with a high degree of autonomy, take ownership of complex structural scopes, and provide technical leadership and mentorship to junior and mid-level engineers.

The role remains heavily hands‑on structural engineering, analysis, calculations, and design execution while also carrying greater responsibility for technical quality, client interaction, and the development of less experienced staff. The ideal candidate has deep experience designing structural steel, reinforced concrete, foundations, and industrial support structures in industries such as oil & gas, power generation, petrochemical, mining, manufacturing, energy infrastructure, or similar heavy industrial environments, and is ready to help shape Redtree’s structural engineering practice as it grows.

You Will…

• Lead structural analysis and design of steel, reinforced concrete, foundation, and support structures for industrial and energy‑related facilities, including complex or non‑routine scopes.

• Serve as technical lead on structural calculations, design packages, engineering reports, specifications, and construction documents, reviewing and stamping work as appropriate.

• Design structural systems supporting industrial equipment, process facilities, power generation equipment, and related infrastructure.

• Apply and interpret building codes, design standards, and client requirements, and advise project teams on complex code and design interpretation questions.

• Review and approve structural plans, drawings, calculations, and technical reports prepared by junior and mid‑level engineers.

• Provide technical mentorship and development to junior and mid‑level structural engineers.

• Coordinate with civil, mechanical, electrical, controls, and project management teams throughout project execution, serving as the senior structural point of contact.

• Conduct field investigations, site visits, condition assessments, and construction support activities as required.

• Lead equipment foundation design, structural rehabilitation, and infrastructure improvement projects.

• Support project scoping, budgeting, scheduling and engineering estimates, including for larger or more complex pursuits.

• Lead quality reviews, constructability reviews, and technical evaluations across project teams.

• Lead proposal development and technical scope definition for new project opportunities.

• Provide senior‑level engineering support during procurement, construction, startup, and commissioning phases.

If You…

• Hold a Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering (Structural emphasis) or Structural Engineering.

• Have 10+ years of structural engineering experience, preferably in industrial, energy, manufacturing, oil & gas, mining, petrochemical, or power generation environments.

• Hold a Professional Engineer (PE) license.

• Have demonstrated experience performing structural analysis and design, with a track record of taking ownership of projects from concept through completion.

• Possess strong experience designing structural steel, reinforced concrete structures, foundations, and equipment support systems.

• Have experience using structural analysis software such as STAAD Pro, RISA, SAP2000, ETABS, SAFE, RAM, or similar platforms.

• Demonstrate strong knowledge of applicable design codes including IBC, ASCE 7, AISC, ACI 318, and related industry standards.

• Have experience reviewing the work of other engineers and providing technical mentorship.

• Possess strong written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to interact directly with clients.

• Can work effectively both independently and as a technical leader within multidisciplinary engineering teams.

• Are detail‑oriented, technically focused, and committed to delivering high‑quality engineering solutions.

• Must be able to work in the United States without employer sponsorship, now or in the future.

Preferred Qualifications

• Master’s Degree in Structural Engineering.

• Experience designing machine foundations, turbine foundations, compressor foundations, generator foundations, or other dynamically loaded structures.

• Experience performing dynamic analysis, vibration analysis, or foundation design for rotating equipment.

• Exposure to transmission line structures, substations, utility infrastructure, or related power delivery systems.

• Knowledge of OSHA and industrial facility safety requirements.

• Prior experience leading or mentoring engineering staff within remote or distributed engineering teams.

• Prior experience helping build or scale a structural engineering practice or group.
