Job summary

Britt, Peters & Associates in Charlotte, NC is seeking an experienced Structural Engineer to join our growing team. The role focuses on the design, analysis and evaluation of building structures, from small commercial repairs to multi-million-dollar facilities, with collaboration across licensed engineers.

The candidate will work both independently and on project teams, perform calculations, review technical documents, and coordinate with clients and contractors.

Qualifications

• BSCE or MSCE with focus in structures; MSCE preferred.
• 4+ years of structural engineering experience.
• Experience with AutoCAD; Revit a plus.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Willing to adapt to different project types and tasks daily.
• Ability to collaborate with a diverse team of professionals.
• Capable of field work and climbing, using precision instruments.

Responsibilities

• Develop and detail portions of projects.
• Perform structural calculations, design and detailing for building elements.
• Review and interpret technical documents and designs.
• Review and evaluate building codes and product specifications.
• Correspond directly with clients, design professionals and contractors.
• Plan and coordinate work and schedules with clients and BPA staff.
• Perform local field visits to document and evaluate existing conditions.
• Author technical reports and project correspondence.
• Attend and participate in meetings with clients and other design professionals.
