FOCUS Consulting in Midvale, UT, is seeking a Structural PE / EIT / Staff Engineer to design safe and efficient structures. You will collaborate with project managers, engineers, and architects to deliver high-quality structural systems, from concept through permit-ready drawings.

You should bring a civil engineering degree with a structural focus and be open to EIT/PE licensure. The role offers a comprehensive benefits package and career growth opportunities in a supportive environment.

Qualifications

Completed civil engineering degree with an emphasis in structural engineering.
Experience in structural engineering is a bonus.
EIT status or PE licensure is a bonus.
Strong analytical, conceptual, problem-solving, time management and organizational skills.

Responsibilities

Produce engineering designs using CAD and other design programs to high quality.
Coordinate with PMs and engineers on designs for infrastructure and site work.
Ensure designs meet municipal codes and project requirements.
Follow QA/QC processes to ensure accuracy and project success.
Support clients and team to navigate structural design challenges.

Schedule

8-10-hour day shift

Monday to Friday, no weekends

Completed civil engineering degree with an emphasis in structural engineering
Work or intern experience in the field of structural engineering is a bonus
EIT status or PE licensure a bonus
Solid analytical, conceptual, problem-solving, time management, and organizational skills.

Responsibilities

Build relationships with Project Managers and professional Engineers to produce engineering designs of the utmost quality through the utilization of CAD software & other engineer design programs.
Utilizing great communication and teamwork, attentively track information required to produce deliverables and assist with the design of proposed infrastructure improvements, such as the design of roadway, sewer, water, and storm drainage systems, as well as site grading design.
Harnessing thoroughness and integrity, create design deliverables that meet municipal codes & requirements.
By holding yourself to high standards and employing extreme ownership, work within our defined QA/QC review process to ensure accuracy & project success.
With a commitment to being the best at customer service & having a passion for our client’s success, be their advocate to help them efficiently navigate designs and provide consultation related to structural engineering.

The day-to-day of structural engineering: Analyze architectural drawings and project requirements to develop efficient and safe structural designs. Select materials and create detailed construction plans, ensuring code compliance. Perform structural calculations using advanced software and excel to evaluate loads, forces, and stability factors. Troubleshoot design challenges that arise during both the planning and construction phases. Work closely with architects, construction managers, and other engineers to align designs with project goals. Communicate effectively to resolve technical concerns and coordinate solutions. Prepare technical reports, engineering drawings, and documentation for permits and client presentations. Maintain accurate records of project phases.
