Job summary

Stantec in Phoenix, AZ seeks a Senior Structural Engineer to join the Energy and Resources team. You will lead design and analysis for heavy industrial projects, mentoring EITs, and collaborating with multidisciplinary teams on mining and energy infrastructure.

As a registered Professional Engineer with 10–20 years of experience, you will apply structural codes, use STAAD.Pro or RISA 3D, and travel to client sites. The role emphasizes safety, quality, and delivery across North America and beyond.

Qualifications

Registered P.E. in at least one Western United States state and ability to register in others.
Strong communication, coordination, and time management skills.
Self-starter with the ability to work independently.
Knowledge of structural design codes (ASCE, AISC, ACI) and related standards (IEEE 693, IEEE 605).
Proficiency with structural analysis software (STAAD.Pro, RISA 3D) and MathCad for detailed calculations.

Responsibilities

Understand and follow Stantec Safety Culture and Health & Safety rules.
Perform structural design and analysis for heavy industrial/energy infrastructure projects.
Develop designs through sketches, hand calculations, and software models.
Collaborate with Engineers and Designers (CAD/BIM) on fit-for-purpose designs.
Interface with other disciplines and project management to execute projects.
Provide coaching and mentoring to EITs and designers.
Conduct QA/QC on projects per guidelines.
Prepare and coordinate project specifications and construction documents.
Attend project coordination meetings with team members and clients.
Travel to local project sites as needed.
