Job summary

NOVA Engineering & Environmental in Fort Lauderdale, FL is seeking a licensed Senior Engineer to provide technical oversight on commercial, institutional, industrial, and residential projects, reviewing structural plans for Florida Building Code compliance, signing and sealing documents, and guiding project teams.

The role requires mentoring junior engineers, coordinating with architects, contractors, and municipalities, supporting Construction Materials Testing and Special Inspections,

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Civil or Structural Engineering.
• Florida PE license is required.
• Minimum 8 years of relevant engineering experience.
• Strong understanding of structural systems and engineering principles.
• Experience performing structural plan reviews.
• Knowledge of CMT, Special Inspections, and QA programs.
• Working knowledge of the Florida Building Code and local requirements.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Strong organizational and project management abilities.
• Ability to manage multiple projects while maintaining high technical standards.

Responsibilities

• Perform engineering reviews and provide technical oversight for construction projects.
• Review structural plans and engineering documents for compliance with building codes and project requirements.
• Sign and seal engineering documents and structural plan reviews as required.
• Provide technical support for CMT and Special Inspections.
• Review field reports, laboratory testing results, and engineering documentation.
• Support Building Code Inspection and Threshold Inspection projects.
• Assist with 40-Year and Milestone Recertification evaluations.
• Collaborate with clients, architects, contractors, municipalities, and internal teams.
• Mentor junior engineers and staff.
• Participate in business development and client relationship activities.
• Maintain up-to-date knowledge of Florida Building Code requirements and industry standards.
