Job summary

ANS, a consulting engineering firm, seeks a Senior Structural Engineer to lead the structural effort across projects, guiding design direction and coordinating with project managers, clients, and construction teams from early design through construction.

You will set the design approach, resolve complex issues, and mentor engineers while supporting business development and client relationships. PE is required; SE adds value. 8+ years of experience in structural engineering are expected.

Qualifications

• A bachelor’s degree in structural or civil engineering from an ABET-accredited program
• 8+ years of structural engineering experience; PE licensed; SE a plus
• Expert command of structural analysis and design and applicable codes and standards
• Experience guiding technical direction and coordinating project design teams, clients, and construction partners
• Proficiency with structural and foundation software (RISA, LPILE), Trimble products, Excel, and design automation (VBA/Python)
• Strong leadership and ability to guide technical direction across projects

Responsibilities

• Lead structural analysis and design for foundations (driven piles, screw and helical piles, cast-in-place concrete), overhead steel structures, building envelopes, and non-building structures across multiple projects.
• Set and review code and standard approaches — ASCE 7, IBC, NESC, ASCE 113, IEEE 693, and NFPA — for project teams.
• Ensure adherence to applicable Client, EPC, Owner, and Utility standards across project deliverables.
• Lead coordination of specifications and contract requirements with project managers and client representatives from early design through construction, resolving constructability with construction teams.
• Coordinate project design teams and guide the technical direction of projects, making key design decisions and resolving complex technical issues.
• Coordinate with designers and the civil design team on drawings, details, and foundation BOMs across large project areas.
• Use engineering software (Excel, RISA, LPILE, and Trimble products; VBA and Python for design automation) to deliver and document designs.
• Mentor engineers and designers, set quality expectations, and review work across projects.
• Support business development, proposals, and client relationships as a senior technical lead.
