Job summary

HDR, Inc. is seeking a mid-career Structural Engineer to join our Building Engineering Services group in MN/WI. You will lead a variety of projects across healthcare, civic, tech, and commercial sectors, mentoring junior engineers and coordinating with architects and other disciplines.

You will design and develop structures, review documents for code compliance, and contribute to a team delivering safe, innovative infrastructure across high-seismic regions.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Civil or Structural Engineering.
• Professional engineering license required (PE/P.Eng) or recognized equivalent.
• 5–8 years of progressive structural engineering experience.
• Experience with AutoCAD, RAM, ETABS, SAFE, STAAD, RISA, Tedds, SAP or similar.
• Strong communication and leadership abilities when mentoring junior engineers.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with architects and engineering leads to develop designs and drive projects.
• Lead small project teams and mentor EITs through design phases.
• Coordinate design development and contract document phases across disciplines.
• Ensure code compliance through reviews with governing agencies and site visits.
• Write and edit structural specifications, select materials, and perform calculations.
• Manage workload and respond to RFI, change orders, and addenda.
